Jamilah LaSalle

Jamilah LaSalle is a resident of Staten Island, NY. She is a nonprofit leader with over 24 years’
experience advocating and addressing community wellness. Her previous employers include
Richmond Senior Services Inc. where she served as the Associate Director and the September 11 th
Families Association as the Human Resources Manager.


She is currently the Executive Director of House of Community, Baitul Jamaat - whose mission is to
provide food security, various activities, programs, educational series, mental health awareness
through arts and advocacy support, to the underserved families borough-wide, starting right here in
our base of-Staten Island.


She is currently attending the University of Phoenix where she will be obtaining her Master’s in
Business Management – February 2023.


Awards and Citations include Essential Piece award from September 11th Families Association –
2016; Councilwoman Debi Rose- Community Leadership Award- 2020; Community Leadership
Award(s) from the following FY 2020: Public Advocate Office, Richmond County DA Office, Senator
Diane Savino & Assemblymember Charles Fall; Outstanding Community Leadership Award -2021 &
The Reverend Maggie Howard Community Hero Award – 2022.


Jamilah is presently a member of the following: Soroptomist International of the Americas, Inc. –
Staten Island (2019 – present); Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM)-Current
Professional Member; Girl Scouts of Greater New York - Troop Leader (2008 - present), Staten
Island Not for Profit Associate (2021- present) & the Staten Island Hunger Task Force (2020 –
present)


Jamilah is happily married for 15 years to Bait-ul Jamaat’s Founder Imam Zulqarnain Abdu-Shahid.
She has three children.
